How To Heal Your Eyesight Naturally?

I'm sharing this because way too many of my friends have come to me to inquire from me the way to help them improve their deteriorating eyesight. and that they dread the thought of someday wearing glasses. When I tell them that I healed my eyesight in about fortnight, from 20/40 to 20/25, that's around a two lines improvement in an eye fixed chart, they need to know my secret to understanding how you too could improve your eyesight. Basically, I used to be ready to go from wearing glasses 40% of the time to 4% of the time. So, my issue with eyesight started once I was 9 years old.

I started wearing glasses and my eyesight rapidly deteriorated to the purpose where my myopia or shortsightedness was -7.00. That basically means I could not recognize a face this on the brink of me. Now, once I was around 28, I finally had LASIK, and LASIK restored me to 20/20 eyesight. But as you recognize, once you choose surgery, sometimes things fail. That’s what happened with my LASIK surgery. Basically, it went awry in my left eye and this left me with astigmatism.

Over the subsequent 12 years, my left eye started getting worse and worse, and then my right eye decided that it too had to deteriorate to catch up with my left eye. And 12 years after my LASIK, I found that I needed glasses once more. And so I had to travel back to the doctor and figure out what to try to. Now, the doctor told me that as a person in my 40s, LASIK would not be an option, so I used to be faced with two choices. Deal with wearing glasses, which I totally disliked, or attempt to heal my eyesight myself.

Now, what happened then was, I was during a conversation with my friend Dave Asprey, the famous biohacker, the founding father of Bulletproof coffee. And Dave told me how working with a vision coach for one hour every week for 12 weeks totally got obviate his bad eyesight and allowed him to function without glasses.

I was intrigued, so I started researching the natural healing of eyesight. What I'm getting to share with you is what I found and what I'm getting to share with you is my advice for what you'll do to assist restore your eyesight so you'll, if not get obviate your glasses, reduce the quantity of your time you do need to wear glasses. Now, I'm still experimenting. I've been doing this now for over a year and although it isn't perfect yet, I want to share with you what I know because I think this is often getting to help tons of individuals.

So, during this video, I'm getting to cover a variety of various things, but if you are looking to stop bad eyesight developing in your kids, or if you are looking to heal your vision, or if you are looking to stop the onset of age-related vision problems like farsightedness, or if you're looking to scale back your use of glasses, concentrate because I'm going to share with you everything I've just learned.

Therefore, the first big mistake people make is that they are going get their eyes checked at a store that sells glasses. this is often never an honest idea. The machines at that store aren't accurate. I did an easy experiment. I had my eyes checked at one among these stores then I visited a true clinic, a real doctor, and therefore the difference was almost 40%. I made a decision to require the doctor's prescription, as do you have to.

You see, your eyesight varies from day to day, from year to year. Some studies on children found that a toddler could naturally move from shortsightedness to farsightedness year over year, but here's what happens, if you picked that specific slice of time where your eyesight is, say, 0.25, and you attend an optician and you get glasses for that, it locks you in. The glasses become a crutch.

So what you would like to do is attend a true doctor. a real vision checkup could take up to an hour. In an eyeglass shop, right, they'll roll in the hay in around quarter-hour because they want to maneuvers you thru and sell you glasses. attend a doctor and obtain your vision properly checked. Now, the second tip is this, after you get your actual prescription from the doctor, get a lens that's one step smaller because that I like, your eyesight actually fluctuates.

You could be at 0.5 in at some point when you're really stressed and after a relaxing weekend, your eyesight could actually improve. Studies are now finding that emotional states, that stress influences your vision. So if your doctor tells you that your eyesight is, say, 0.5 myopia, shortsightedness, don't get a 0.5 lens. Get a lens that's 0.25, that will still offer you an adjustment, but it gives you room for your vision to improve. If you get 0.5, your vision cannot go below 0.5, it has to get worse.

So, what's happened is you've effectively created a crutch. You've created a barrier to your vision recuperating. So always go one step below. So this was the primary thing that a lot of vision therapists recommend. And this was one of the tools I used to get my shortsightedness from 0.75 to 0.25, which just about means I do not need glasses most of the time. Now, the next thing you would like to try to do is that you simply want to put in a basic chart in your home.

So I even have something like this on the door of my study. William Horatio Bates, who lived within the early a part of the 20th century, did a study on school classrooms. He would hang eye chart on a pillar in class classrooms and what he found is that in classrooms where kids had that chart, and therefore the teachers were trained to urge the youngsters to travel and just look at the chart and see how far they could read once every week, the number of cases of nearsightedness was dramatically reduced.

At the start of that period, 6% of the youngsters were nearsighted. By the top of the year, only 1% were nearsighted. Now due to the success during this one school, the system of using an eye fixed chart in classrooms was introduced to all schools in Grand Forks, North Dakota, where Bates worked. These schools used charts continuously for eight years with as many as 2,000 schoolchildren.

And there was an unexpected result. The kids actually began to ascertain better than normal. Children who already had normal sight, 20/20, were now ready to read at 20/15 or 20/10. it had been nuts. You must have an eye chart installed in your home for you and your kids. Adults can do an equivalent thing. Now, here's another really important tip.

Studies on kids found that if you permit your children to sleep during a room that's absolutely dark, meaning no nightlight, no door ajar with a light-weight out in the corridor, your kids are less likely to develop vision problems within the future. Now, this study blew me away. It was done by the University of Pennsylvania on around 479 kids.

Now, what they found is that sleeping in a dark room, if you've got your kids sleep in a pure dark room, they are less likely to develop bad eyesight. So here's what happened. They divided these kids into three groups. Kids that slept during a dark room, kids that slept in a room with a nightlight on, and youngsters that slept in a room with the lights turned on.

And then they traced these kids to ascertain what sort of vision problems these kids would develop. Now, they found this. Of the youngsters who slept during a darkened room, only 10% developed nearsightedness of the youngsters who slept during a room with a nightlight on, 34% developed nearsightedness. And of the youngsters who slept with the lights on, 55% developed nearsightedness.

So this is often a crucial conversation you've to possess together with your children if they're scared of sleeping in the dark. The dark is phenomenal for sleep and science is showing that it's a correlation with helping kids retain good vision. Now, the ultimate tip is this. Hire a vision coach or take a web vision course. There are numerous vision courses out there. I have been experimenting with many of them.

We've spent around five hours together and the results are really, really, really promising. Now, a course means you bought to have the discipline to try to it yourself. Typically, you've to try these courses every day. If you are doing a vision coach, you'd spend an hour with them every week, and then you'd spend around five minutes each day going through the exercises that they prescribe. Whereas on a course, you typically are spending between 10 to 20 minutes each day watching a video and doing the attention exercises which are being prescribed.

Now my tip is don't get hooked into the Bates Method. The Bates Method was popular in just like the 1930s, and tons of individuals talk about the Bates Method because it had been the first method to actually heal vision. So much more research went on. It's been almost 90 years since that book was released. And today, modern vision therapists and newer courses on vision know such a lot more. So, avoid the Bates Method. It works, but it works slow. There are much faster ways to enhance your vision that has been developed within the last 90 years.

Bitcoin vs. Altcoins 2020.

Is Bitcoin boom or bust, a rocket ship to $500,000 or a crash to $5?

In Today’s analysis, let's assume you are working in the CTO (chief technology officer) office with me and let's assume, today, in 1 minute, we have an appointment scheduled with someone called Satoshi Nakamoto, who is here to present his product, Bitcoin, to us now in 2020. We have never heard about him before, so we have no bias. Our job, yours and mine, as the CTO office, is to decide whether to commit our company to his project, or not. We have already taken the 2G/3G/4G/5G protocol to every person on the planet - for communication. Today, our job is to figure out if Bitcoin will become that - for money. In preparation for this important meeting, let me remind you of two things: Number 1. We have to think for ourselves. Most people want a simple, polarized message, for this or against that, a "price prediction", told by someone else. For that, I recommend the neighbourhood fortune teller. Here, today, our company pays us a fortune to use our own brains. Number 2. We have to focus carefully. The average attention span on TikTok is now 3 seconds. If you zone out or start scrolling your phone on a CTO level meeting, I'm moving you to work in the janitor office tomorrow. Today, now, we focus. Please turn off your notifications for a while. Oh, he's here! Welcome! I'm Satoshi Nakamoto. I'm here to present my protocol, Bitcoin. Do you want coffee? Please go ahead, Nakamoto-san. Oh wow, that was quite a presentation. Good job, Sir! If we take the idea first. Will the promise of Bitcoin make it? In my opinion, YES, absolutely, for one very specific reason. It is a global system, that competes with a myriad of local systems and then the global system almost always wins. There are local banks in 100+ countries,

1 million offices and 10 million people working in them. And then comes this 1 guy, who is standing here today, who wrote a piece of software that more or less does the same thing. Well done, by the way. Either we get a private dominant company monopoly like we have Google for search,  Amazon for online purchases, or like we had Facebook/Instagram for social media. In China, this has already  happened for money, with Alipay and WeChat Pay, a billion+ users. Given how important money is in every country, I don't see how the governments of the world will let a company registered in another country, run their money. Which means that we would still end up with local systems, each country having its own application, AliPay in China, Venmo in the US, Swish in Sweden, Vipps in Norway, etc and we started with the insight that global systems tend to beat local systems. Or it's this guy's invention. It's registered nowhere, all governments dislike them equally.

YES, the idea of Bitcoin will make it. Then let's move on to the 2nd part, the execution of this idea. Our guy here, Mr Nakamoto, did a great job. The product works fine. He has made the people of the world aware of it, to some extent. But we don't live in isolation. All good ideas will be copied and this good idea has already been copied 5,676 times. This is not so different from wireless communication technologies. Now we have 1 system for the whole world, but it was not always like that. We had so many competitors before we beat them, year after year, decade after decade until only the 2G/3G/4G/5G system remained. I would break this question down like this: Use Cases and Technology Money - money has value because people believe it has value, no other reason, or in one word: Trust.

This is where Bitcoin BTC really shines. The trust is there. Bitcoin has stood the test of time, in a way that none of those 5,676 challengers can even compete with today. So yes, it is real money. Congratulations Nakamoto-san to your 1 million coins, worth 10 billion dollars. A real unicorn startup, sorry decacorn.  Peer to Peer Electronic Cash Here no. It can be used for big, seldom purchases, like an investment, or buying a car, but even among people very into Bitcoin, most of them, don't use it as cash. On-chain transactions are expensive and the lightning network is a bit complicated and not widely deployed. There are many other coins that technically do this better today.

Here Bitcoin is lagging vs. competition. Immutable data storage Mr. Satoshi demonstrated to us today how he stored a text string in the first block. "Chancellor on brink of second bailout for banks" Very impressive but today Bitcoin BTC is not suitable for storing data of any significance and not something the team wants to do. Other coins can do this, so Bitcoin is a laggard for this use case too. Code execution Again, the Sir here showed us how scripts could be executed, and he mentioned his friend Vitalik wanted to build his idea Ethereum on top of Bitcoin, but he said that didn't pan out. Today, Bitcoin BTC is a laggard, you can't write code on it in the same way as you can on Ethereum, Binance or on most of those other 5000+ coins. Store of Value Questionable. We had an 85% drop in 1 year. If you stored your value and then needed to use it 1 year later and found it worth only 15% of what you put in, you'd say stable coins are doing a better job on this use case today. So Laggard. Let's move on to look at the technical characteristics as such Security Fantastic. It's secure. Over 11 years, the Bitcoin network as such has never been hacked. Absolute leader. Performance Not a speed leader. Fairly slow. I made a transfer yesterday, it took 1 hour until fully confirmed. Then I made a transfer on BNB, that took less than a minute. Lightning network is fast, but not widely deployed. Scalability Not good. 7 tps is frankly, a joke. Alipay did 256,000 transactions per seconds, two years ago with actual traffic. In this office, we are used to millions of tps. Lightning network is a good idea, but just opening channels, which still has to happen on-chain, would clog the network if this takes off. Installed base Leader, but still small. 50 million users are nothing.

Here in the CTO office, we've run beta tests that are 100 million subs. We had 4 billion users and we were still seriously threatened by a competing technology. Bitcoin is nowhere near too big to fail today. Some 50 million users can be overtaken in a day. So what do you think? I think, seeing this chart, I'd say the race is still open. This could become the winning protocol, but it is not given. Why? Because it is still small. There are 1 billion users of Alipay and WeChat Pay in China. We have 8 billion mobile subscriptions. Bitcoin is so small, that you can't even see it if you plot it on the same chart. So what will determine how this ends? I'd say the outcome depends on which use cases take off first. And I'm talking really takes off, into the billions of people. If it is secure money, where Bitcoin is a leader, it will be  Bitcoin. If it is one of the other use cases, another coin that is the leader in that field, could well eclipse Bitcoin and then also eat the use case of secure money. In fact, this almost already happened. For a period in 2017-2018 with Ethereum, which could both act as money and run code, then suddenly ETH was money, the currency people talked about, not Bitcoin. Then that all crashed, for good reasons, but that's how close it was. I'm not saying that will happen. I'm saying it's a case of the butterfly effect.

A seemingly small, unpredictable event, can get the entire world to steer in a different direction. This isn't settled yet unless we believe in fate. So let's go back to our meeting. CTO Larsson and team, will you commit your company to my protocol? Nakamoto-san. You are asking if Bitcoin BTC will become the 2G/3G/4G/5G of money? My answer is: I will commit: To study, to research, to follow this, but it is too early for me to commit all resources to this 1 protocol. Before I can do that, you need to pass 2 milestones, and I will invite you to come back here regularly, to update your scorecard on those 2 KPIs.

We created this mobile phone protocol, today used by every person in the world. When it was ready, did people buy? No. In fact, most people said things like "I will never get a mobile phone!" But eventually, they did. Why? Because between us, as technology creators, you and me, and those 8 a billion consumers, there was another entity, a consumer-facing entity, like Nokia, and then Apple,  selling the consumer products and Verizon, Vodafone, Telenor, selling the consumer service, with marketing, support, guidance, education and patience with beginners, translating this new complex technology into a language people can use and understand. Where is your consumer-facing entity? Is it Coinbase?

Binance? That still seems pretty techy to me. Is it Jack Dorsey's company, Square? You need to figure this out, Mr. Nakamoto, your vehicle to consumer adoption. This indicator is in the red. Secondly, Sir, there is no way to put this nicely, it seems those 10 billion dollars has made you fat and lazy. You were the only one on the market, now you are a laggard in almost every single category here. How can this happen? I see even your company Blockstream here identified that it doesn't work to move bitcoin between exchanges and then instead of fixing it, you made another chain to transport these slow, fat bitcoins on. Not impressed. I heard your counter-argument today that the blockchain has to be downloadable over satellite and run on any hardware. For that, I'm happy to announce to you, that in this CTO office, we have built a mobile data network for you, That we have rolled it out and covered every spot of the globe and soon it will be even faster. So now you can use that, at a fraction of the cost and if you live in a dictatorship where Bitcoin is blocked, you can use a VPN.

There are even decentralized VPNs now. And even small phone handsets have become incredibly powerful computers today. So no worries about that, Sir. We got you covered! So to summarize this meeting: Mr. Nakamoto, your idea will succeed. Well done and you are now one of the handfuls of contenders to become money, the distributed ledger used by the world, but you are not there yet. You have competitors. Anyone who says that they, today in mid-2020, can predict how this will turn out, I say lack experience or believe in fate. I don't, not in a professional setting. This is a case of the butterfly effect. I will monitor you AND your handful of rivals. Until you have succeeded with your promise, your product remains a speculative asset. That means I will bet on you, and on the others. I will trade your successes and your setbacks, up and down. The more uncertain this outcome is, the more violent the up and down swings will become. Great for a trader. By combining the trend-momentum of the market, with how this scorecard develops, we will see if this is going to $500,000 or to $5 lightyears ahead of everyone else. That means we can make insane amounts of money on this, either way. To remind you, the 2 KPIs on your scorecard, that you will report on regularly here is: Your vehicle to consumer adoption.  Missing today. Your Leader/Laggard technology sheet

Note: sorry for too long article but really it needs length.

Is Bitcoin a Safe Investment (Investing in Crypto world)?

On today's discussion, easy access to crypto exchanges. Are you here guys to buy bitcoins?  Yeah, yeah, yeah. Take the line. They told me, actually, we have a car. It's a huge black Cadillac. It was parked on the main street in Moscow. I was waiting and the door open and I came in and two big guys, like really bad guys. They ask me ok how much do you need? Okay, give us the cash. They had a special machine to count all the notes right in the car. So we take like two per cent if you don't wait for the confirmation, what is confirmations? If you will wait. When you get these coins, we will charge you five per cent. Okay. I ask. No, no, no. I will wait for confirmations, so they took 5 per cent. They send me these bitcoins with my public address and everything. And then I analyzed all this and thought, it's so stupid. For many people, the world of cryptocurrencies has been like the Wild West. One of the worries is how to safely buy and store large quantities of these assets, especially for people living in developing markets. Vladimir has already experienced these issues, which is why he has set up the brokerage company NewCent to provide easy access to crypto exchanges. My name is Vladimir. I was born in Russia, actually, at that time it was the Soviet Union. I started NewCent actually by chance, by coincidence.

When it was 2013, the peak of development of Russia I think at that time, we won the Olympic Games and then we have all this Crimea story, with Ukraine. So for me at that time, it was absolutely obvious that to do business anymore in Russia, it's not worth enough. Because when we did it and all our vestments moved back, our exchange rate again changed and my net wealth just decreased three times immediately. I had a lot of talks with my friends from the states or Europe. Bitcoin is a big thing. What's your reason? What's the intrinsic value behind it? But for people who are living in developing countries, it's a huge advantage. That's why to like in Zimbabwe, Argentina, Vietnam, Russia, Ukraine, penetration of bitcoin and cryptocurrency is much, much higher in comparison with the states and the U.K. Later, I  started to read more, more, more about this technology and thought yeah, it's really cool. And I started to check what are the institutional and trustworthy organizations that exist to make the big deal. So I decided okay, I will try to contact this broker. So now it's a big broker, still a big broker here. I tried to call them, I tried to write to them, they didn't answer. So I decided to take a flight. A flight to Zurich, took the train from Zurich to Zug, to visit the office. I ring the bell and they told me, do you have an appointment? No, I don't but. We can't let you in. We can’t sell you bitcoins. And I was so surprised actually, it's like I have one million, I want to buy one million worth of bitcoin, which at that time was still only the crazy people could do this. And they are super busy.

They don't have time for me to buy this. Then I cross the road, I drink a beer, I was watching this office and I was thinking, well, it's my future business. I use my network, found the guys from PricewaterhouseCoopers that help me create the company and get the license, get all the connection and presence in Switzerland. And I moved with my family here and I  started. So my idea was to make the movement in and out very easy. And the second point was to make it safe by design, by default, that no counterparty risk or at least to eliminate it to a minimum. If you want to invest, you want to make it transparent. Yeah, we can provide you with this opportunity. Most people in our target audience in our Target segment, they drive German or Japanese cars, they drink Italian wine, but they still keep money with the Russian banks or Vietnam Bank or Kazakhstan bank. They are sometimes limited with their financial services, which they get right now. So we want to give them access. We provide a consumer service for these guys and we try to work hard 24/7 to help these people to get this opportunity. You want to trade the S&P 500 or when it will be maybe the S&P 300 or whatever. You can do it. You could buy Bitcoin, you could buy gold, you could buy some real estate, but you have your money and it's like world recognized. And this money is somewhere. And I think  Switzerland is the best place to have money here. So we want to create this kind of service. So we are connected to 18 liquidity providers and if a big client is coming, so a big, big client is more than five million because even if you buy at the moment five million Bitcoin or sell five million, you will see that this deal will influence the market.  it will go down or up. So we'll help the clients to buy and sell these big amounts. So we have an order execution system. We have a very secured way of how to work with our liquidity providers. We have a few banks, again, to make it very transparent and very safe for the clients. We're really working 24/7 and we try to onboard your workweek. We understand that for people who really invest a significant amount of their capital, they need to have a trustworthy counterparty.

And a financial company in Switzerland is like one of the most secured by default counterparty. That's why when I was choosing where to create this company, Singapore, Malta or Gibraltar. Of course, it was the first answer and it was the right answer to make it in Switzerland. If we compare how the software market evolved. Twenty-five years ago, it was OK. Are you IBM or your Apple? And you'll have all software from one provider or from another. And now we're living in a world where we have Apple but we use Microsoft Word and PowerPoint and we use Zoom, whatever possible. So I think with finance at some point, it will also be free. And we want to occupy this space which provides the people from different countries access to a very stable place to have your money and then do whatever you want with this money. Experience breeds wisdom and wisdom breeds vision. New Cent was born out of Vladimir's incredible firsthand experience of trying to buy Bitcoin in significant quantity. Today, he's giving easy access to crypto exchanges for people in both developed and developing markets so that they can choose to preserve their wealth in this exciting financial frontier. As global debts soar, alternative stores of value are going to become increasingly popular. Finance. Now it's new and improved.

Here’s What’s Next This Is the End of the Silicon Chip.

Electronics keep getting smaller, and it’s all due to electric switches called transistors. When these little fellas replaced vacuum tubes, computers went from the dimensions of entire rooms to merely the corner of an area. In the 60-odd years since, transistors have kept shrinking, lowering and powering up our electronics with them. what if we can’t make anything smaller?! Transistors have 3 terminals, a source, a drain, and a gate. Current flows from the source and, if the gate allows the electrons to pass, out the drain. Do you know how the coding system is ones and zeros at its most fundamental? level? Well, this is often where that physically happens. Current flowing through an open gate represents a one, a closed gate and no current represents a zero. Pack thousands of those transistors together and they can do calculations and act as a computer’s brain.

Early computers had thousands of transistors, but a technique to make a more robust brain is to squeeze more transistors onto a chip, and today’s chips could have billions.  Not only do smaller transistors allow a higher density, but it also means they will switch from on to off faster, so small is good! Right now, commercially available chips typically have transistors with gates about 14 to twenty nm across, reckoning on the chip. The problem is, as gates get thinner, quantum mechanics (the physics that govern tiny parts of atoms) start to return into play. For example, if the gates are too thin then they won’t be ready to stop electrons because the electrons will tunnel through. Not during a literal sense, they don’t bore through the gate like an escaped convict. They tunnel within the quirky quantum sense, where essentially electrons disappear on one side of the gate and reappear on the opposite. Eat your heart out, Andy Dufresne. If the gate is meant to be closed to current - meaning a zero - and it isn’t, that’s a big problem. Researchers predict that the lower limit for silicon gate is 5 nm, and by 2021 it won’t be economically efficient to stay shrinking transistors. So, where can we go when the laws of physics stop the march of technological progress?

Well, the great news is, there are other ways of improving performance. machine-learning could help to develop more efficient algorithms to use with current transistors.  we could switch to light-based computers with optical gates. That could actually boost performance 20 fold, though the hardware may be a bit larger. Or, we could stop using silicon. Researchers have managed to form a transistor out of molybdenum disulfide with a carbon nanotube gate that's only 1 nanometer across. It gets around electron tunnelling because electrons don’t flow as fast through the molybdenum disulfide as they are doing through silicon. But, production would probably be expensive, it was hard enough to create a proof of concept. The point is, progress can happen whether or not we can’t shrink. Keep in mind when transistors were first used in a computer they were 20 times dearer than vacuum tubes. Even though transistors were much costlier, computer scientists knew they'd more of upside within the long term and appearance where that led us! How bad will it be for the economy, Covid-19

Around the world, economies are crumbling when the coronavirus outbreak, the price of every vital commodity has fallen We saw a lot of these markets hit Coronavirus has oil below $50 a barrel US demand in China has dropped off substantially You smash into the demand for copper, iron ore, even gold is going down America’s Department of Labour has recorded the highest ever number of new claims unemployment in the past two weeks—just under 10m Governments had modelled the impact of a pandemic on their economies But were in no way prepared. The indication is that economic activity has been sledgehammered in the course of a couple of weeks Just how deep is the crisis for the world economy? Over the past two months, the world’s biggest stock markets have turned red that because investors suddenly have to recalculate the future for the economy and the future for corporate profits

and adjust their figures sharply downwards and then they tend to sell assets, which are the most liquid

Often those are the big companies in the S&P 500 It had its quickest bear-market decline in history

When the dot-com bubble burst in 2000 it took almost two years it dropped by 49%.

In 2007-09the financial crisis led to a fall of almost 60% in just over a year The coronavirus pandemic has already seen the market fall by a third in just one month This crash has been so quick because it was   such a shock In the financial crisis, there was actually quite a long lead up That was good news after, long 18 months of bad news But this is genuinely a Deus ex machine, a bolt from the blue where investors were just not pricing in the risk of a pandemic, And certainly, governments have never in the past imposed the kind of lockdown on a global economy that they have this time So this was not  something people had in their models In an effort to stop the deadly virus, businesses have been forced to close and citizens isolated at home on an unprecedented scale worldwide It’s caused a unique economic crisis the influence of which will be greater in some industries, in particular, The industries which are hit hardest are those which are related to the consumer. So that’s retailing, that’s entertainment that’s hospitality, both hotels and restaurants many of which have simply been locked down And many of these companies will have high costs which they’ll need to keep meeting So, suddenly you have lots of costs continuing and absolutely no revenues which is the worst possible outcome for these businesses  if a business isn’t directly losing out from people staying at home

lockdowns are having a devastating ripple effect.

Modern the industry relies on goods and materials crossing borders When they can’t, production around the world is endangered The coronavirus caused a break in the biggest link in the vast, global, supply chain

The problem started in China where the disease started really to be seen in December and then had a huge impact in January China is the bedrock of the global supply chain Businesses started to look for alternative suppliers certainly, that was a race to try and find the few that had spare capacity As the virus spread, alternative suppliers have become fewer and further between It’s going to take a very, very long time for them to rebuild their supply chains In the meantime, because there’s very little demand for finished products Few companies are going to want to resurrect that supply chain

immediately until they know that the economy is settled down The true extent of the damage to the world, the economy will only start to become clear with the speed and strength of its recovery The big question that economists are still trying to grapple with is whether this is what they call a V-shaped recession or a U-shaped recession or an L-shaped recession In a V-shaped recession, the economy suffers a rapid fall but rebounds very quickly as opposed to a longer economic trough before recovery

or long-term recession Now, the most encouraging news we’ve had so far is that in China which was the first economy to be hit the latest figures suggest the most hopeful a possibility which is that this is a V-shaped recession now if China can do that, the hope is that Europe and America can do that later on when the lockdowns are lifted Europeans and Americans are also being helped by unprecedented government responses Up to €200bn £330bn $2.2 trillion in urgently needed relief These short-term protections might reduce the damage the economy suffers But this pandemic could last a long time

So, the difficult calculation for governments is trading off the lives of people who will die from the coronavirus versus the economic damage to the economy Year-long lockdowns would cost America and the eurozone perhaps a third of their GDP Models looking at America suggests that ending lockdowns would lessen that damage but would lead to around 1m extra deaths In the last 75 years, since the second world war, we’ve seen nothing like this Governments have not reacted on this scale So although it’s terrible, in a way it shows our humanity that we want to reduce the number of deaths so much that we’re willing to put up with all these restrictions and we’re willing to accept a big hit to economic activities Philip Coggan. I’m reporting for The Economist on the financial crisis that’s been created by the pandemic If you want to read more, please do follow my blogs.

Do We Know About Ocean Plastic? Nano plastics Are Changing Everything.

You’ve probably heard of microplastics — those teeny tiny fragments of plastic waste. They’re commonly found in the ocean when larger chunks of plastic like water bottles break down over time. And that’s obviously problematic. And now scientists are finding a whole new type of plastic that’s even smaller. What’s smaller than micro? Nano. To start, a microplastic is any piece of plastic that’s smaller than 5 millimetres in size. These pieces can break into smaller and smaller bits to become nano plastics, which are smaller than one-thousandth of a millimetre. That’s smaller than a single cell. So, to count something that tiny and finds out the impact it’s having on our ocean environment, researchers are having to urge creative with their detection. They took specimens (samples), ignite them into a gas, and shoot them with electrons. This causes the nano plastics to transfer an electric charge, which they can then measure to learn more about what kinds of nano plastics are present in the samples. Even though they’re too small to be seen, nano plastics can be detected clearly enough to reveal their weight.

This same method is used at crime scenes to detect the presence of explosive gases, biological agents or residues. But some ocean experts think that the key to better understanding nano plastics is modelling, rather than sampling on a small scale. The Plastic in Our Seas Project uses present knowledge of the tides, wind patterns and currents to predict the surface paths that plastic would follow. Since the team isn't only curious about modelling surface plastic, but also the plastic beneath the waves, their models include simulations of plastic fragmentation, sinking, beaching, wave-mixing, and animal ingestion. Along with data collected in the field, the team is using laboratory wave tank tests to better picture the ocean in 3D. Where other maps only show the ocean from a top-down perspective, having a 3D representation will let them see underneath the surface. They hope to use this information to determine where the nano plastics are and what organisms may be most at risk. Related research, though still quite new, is finding that nano plastics can accumulate in bloodstreams and cell membranes.

In one experiment, they could even pass the blood-brain barrier in a fish, hinting at neurological damage. Nanoplastics also pose a threat because they attract metals like lead, which are dangerous for animals to consume. Emerging studies have also suggested negative health impacts from the chemicals in microplastics on humans, such as reproductive harm, organ problems, and developmental delays.

This makes nano plastics began the even bigger question of how we may be affected. But in order to understand the true impact of nano plastics, it’s critical that we develop better ways to study it and calculate its actual volume. Some additional forward-looking solutions include using satellites or even LIDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) to find and identify plastic in the ocean. So hopefully, these steps will help bring us closer to tackling our massive plastic problem. In case you didn't know, it's Plastic Free July. If you want to know more about what’s being done to combat plastic pollution, check out our playlist here. And if there are any ways that you’re reducing your plastic footprint,

How can parents keep kids safe from COVID-19 if they go back to school

Families will need to make that determination pretty soon classes are scheduled to start in September. Details have not been finalized. Many parents are concerned about what school will look like if students go back to class this fall, and joining us now to talk about how families can stay safe. First of all, what are your thoughts on face to face in-person learning right now? This is really an important topic. will say that it's the safe classroom is a healthy classroom, this means to help for all involved staff, teachers’ students and their families are all local. First, you need to have a decline in rates in the community. Every family will need to look at risk and reward and level of community transition. So face to face can work in some circumstances given that there's agreement on safety measures mask distancing and organizing what the classroom looks like to mitigate the spread and keep people safe.

Doctors put out a statement last week saying the social-emotional and behavioral health to say nothing about the economic well-being for children out of school is more dangerous than to have them in class what do you think. I think the health risks of not reopening are real, including mental health child abuse screening nutrition being socially engaged developing. But I don't think it's all created equal. those that are maybe further along in their education might require different banks as those that might be younger need more development and then we've got to think about the unique needs of our most vulnerable populations and what they might need what when it comes from technology to being in school and then you've got to have the families to take care of them if someone gets sick got a plan to know what to do if you're on the parents to come to pick you up or daycare that's a real problem. so doctor let me make sure I'm getting you can hear you correctly you think that she should be case by case. no, I think that you've got to think about the cohort approach. and I think that early. on. we got a look at all the factors and then you have to make a determination because this is local. we are depending on how can we early in the morning we're getting light actually because it's a month right, foursomes both so so what do you suggest you know it's kind of confusing I think as a mother who has kids in school, it's very confusing. I agree I think we need to be clear about capabilities are there we need testing we tracing we need isolation. you need it.

The disinfecting cleaning process needs to organize a classroom in a way that's safe. we got to reinforce. to parents. needs to be done and what the communications if their kids get sick. so it did problem is that we don't know what transmission will be like in the community in September right. so we've got it to be able to think about and have contingencies for 4 the transmission does rise. Versus being where it is today. the schools will have safety protocols but what about outside of the classroom, what's your advice to parents who of course don't want there. kids to contract the virus and then bring in the school. that I think is really important you know a recent case family foundation study said that 3.3 million older adults live with school-going children now that puts them at risk as well. I think we've got to continue to engage in the prevention measures that we've been talking about wearing the mask hand hygiene and distancing. and then also making sure that if you've been exposed to some of them might have Covid-19 or you're having symptoms at that moment you got to be able to speak up and act on that so that others don't get sick.
